Lila (Dubin) Daren

Tevet 2, 5768

August 23, 1922 to December 11, 2007

Lila was born and raised in Chicago, IL. She was devoted to family, friends, and country. She went to work instead of college because her father had a series of accidents and she felt her brothers needed the education. She was President for two years at the local Jewish Peoples Institute. She served as Treasurer of the original national Bnai Brith Young Women and held various offices with the local chapter. During World War II, she was a volunteer instructor of three Red Cross first aid adult classes, hostess at U.S.O. functions every other Sunday, knitted scarves and rolled bandages. She made numerous trips to the Great Lakes Naval Hospital with the JWVA where she served as hostess for hospital functions held for disabled sailors and veterans. She was a member of the same synagogue and sisterhood for nearly 50 years where she set up the bookkeeping system. Lila's membership in Skokie Auxiliary #328 began October 15, 1964, four years after our Auxiliary was chartered. Lila served loyally and faithfully and held many offices and chairmanships and performed all the aims, programs and objectives of our organization.
